50th ALL WALES PLOUGHING & HEDGING AND 11Tth EROPEAN VINTAGE PLOUGHING CHAMPIONSHIPS

HOSTED BY RVVC

19th & 20th SEPTEMBER 2008

The 50th Anniversary of the Welsh Ploughing Association was celebrated in style with Radnor Valley Vintage Club (RVVC) hosting the All Wales and European Vintage

Ploughing Championships. The event was held at Hindwell and Walton Court Farms, the original farms used in the first match held by the founding society, the Radnor Valley Ploughing Society back in 1958.

AGCO who now own Massey Ferguson, who are also celebrating their 50th birthday, were the main sponsors of the event.

RVVC member Les Goodwin who was Chief Steward at this event was also celebrating the 50th anniversary of

winning the world ploughing championships in Germany in 1958.

In glorious sunshine and in the picturesque location at the foot of the Radnor Hills some 200 plus ploughmen from all over European and 7 teams of shire horses ploughed over two days. This unprecedented number of ploughing entries is even more than attend the British National Ploughing Championships.

The European vintage classes took place on the Friday with Noel Price and Glyn Morgan finishing third and fourth respectively.

A full detailed list of the results is below, but for photographs please will be added to the Events page in due course.
